The Kremlin on Monday rejected Turkish media reports which suggested that Asma al-Assad, the British-born wife of former Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, wanted a divorce and to leave Russia.

Assad, who fled with her family from Syria to Moscow, has filed for divorce in Russia, Al Jazeera reports. The Kremlin denies these reports. Asma al-Assad is reportedly unhappy with life in Moscow, where she ended up after the dictator escaped from rebels.

Following reports in Turkish media, a Kremlin spokesman denies Asma al-Assad wants to divorce her husband and leave Russia.

The Kremlin has rejected reports that Bashar al-Assad’s British-born wife was seeking a divorce and wanted to return to Britain. Russia also denied claims that the deposed Syrian ruler and Asma al-Assad, his wife, had been confined to Moscow and their property assets had been frozen by Russian authorities.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov also rejected Turkish media reports which suggested that Assad had been confined to Moscow and had his property assets frozen.
