As DWTS production designer James Yarnell revealed to Deadline (via TikTok ), the very first Mirrorball was made from a lamp and a roll of tape. A store called Lamps Plus had the lamp Yarnell disassembled and took pieces from to create the silhouette that would eventually become the show’s signature prize.
