The Pittsburgh Steelers held off a late comeback attempt from the Minnesota Vikings to win the NFL’s first regular-season game in Ireland by a score of 24-21. Overall, the Steelers played their most complete game of the season, and that may be thanks in part to the late Steelers owner Dan Rooney.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin delivered an emotional speech to his team Saturday night about the significance of the late Dan M. Rooney, a former U.S. ambassador to Ireland and influential Steelers chairman.

"We definitely had a chip on our shoulder," T.J. Watt told Brooke Pryor of ESPN after the game. "Mike T. last night gave a speech on the importance of the Rooney family here in Ireland and Mr. Rooney, his ambassadorship here and how important this game means to their family."
