Mike Kafka will get his first official taste of being an NFL head coach Sunday when his New York Giants host the Green Bay Packers, but the longtime Giants offensive coordinator is already something of a known commodity in league coaching circles.

The Giants went ahead, 20-19, with 7:22 remaining in a see-saw game on a 1-yard quarterback keeper by Jameis Winston, who made his debut as a Giant starting in place of injured rookie Jaxson Dart. That led to the Giants defense agonizingly blowing a fourth quarter lead for the third time this season.

While Jaxson Dart is expected to be cleared to return for Sunday's game in Detroit, Mike Kafka said on Monday that the first-round pick remains in the league’s concussion protocol.
