Joe Root has been recalled to England's ODI squad for February's ICC Champions Trophy, as well as the 50-over leg of the India series that precedes it, in the first big call of Brendon McCullum's tenure as head coach across red- and white-ball formats.

Both Root and Stokes haven’t played the 50-over format since last year’s ODI World Cup in India, the latter having made a u-turn on his retirement from the format before the tournament.

The International Cricket Council has reportedly confirmed that India will play all its matches of the 2025 Champions Trophy in Dubai.

The former Pakistan player also welcomed the hybrid model of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 to be hosted by Pakistan.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been chosen as the neutral venue for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, which is scheduled to be hosted

England`s Test skipper Ben Stokes has been ruled out of the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. The mega event will be hosted by Pakistan. Stokes will also be absent for the white-ball tour of India. Ben Stokes was not considered for both assignments as he pulled a left hamstring injury during England`s loss against New Zealand in the third Test match.
