Left-hander Shinnosuke Ogasawara and the Washington Nationals have agreed to a $3.5 million, two-year contract.

Shinnosuke Ogasawara, a 27-year-old left-hander, pitched to a 3.12 ERA in 24 games for the Chunichi Dragons last season.

The Washington Nationals agreed to terms with left-handed pitcher Shinnosuke Ogasawara on a two-year contract and designated left-handed pitcher Joe La Sorsa for assignment on Friday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

In the latest signing in a busy international free-agent market, the Nationals have agreed to a two-year deal with left-hander Shinnosuke Ogasawara. Ogasawara, 27, was posted by the Chunichi Dragons in December.

Ogasawara, who has kept his ERA under 3.15 in two of his last three seasons in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball Organization, provides Washington with plenty of options.
