World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen quit the World Rapid Chess Championship on Friday after he refused to change out of the jeans he was wearing, according to the International Chess Federation (FIDE).

Magnus Carlsen has confirmed his participation in the FIDE World Rapid and Blitz tournament and will play in jeans after a change in the rules. Carlsen had pulled out of the tournament after the sport's global governing body fined him for wearing jeans.
