According to emergency medical services, the victim was hit on the I-10/I-12 split near Essen Lane around 4 a.m. The East Baton Rouge Coroner's Office was called to the scene.

Someone was shot and injured in a Baton Rouge coffeeshop Thursday morning, Baton Rouge police said. The shooting happened at about 6:30 a.m. at the Coffee Bean Cafe at 12177 Coursey Blvd., near South Sherwood Forest Boulevard, officials said. The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition, emergency officials said.
