Flames roared through an assisted-living facility in Massachusetts, killing nine people and trapping residents inside, including some who leaned out of windows and screamed for help.
Nine people died and dozens were hurt in a fire at the Gabriel House Assisted Living Facility, and finger-pointing has already begun over whether there were enough firefighters to respond and whether staff at the facility did enough to help.
A fundraiser will be held Friday night for the survivors of the Gabriel House fire in Fall River. Ten people were killed Sunday night when a fire broke out in the independent and assisted living facility.
Questions and finger-pointing have increased in the days since a fire at a Massachusetts assisted-living facility killed nine and hurt dozens.
More than 75 percent of Gabriel House residents are enrolled in Medicaid, state officials have said, and it charges significantly less than a typical assisted living facility does for private-paying patients.
