ANSONIA, Conn. (WFSB) - Part of Route 8 was closed after a 20-year-old was hit by a pickup truck on Friday night. According to state police, Jaiden Andreiz Ragsdale, age 20, was stopped in the left lane for an unknown reason. Police suspected that Ragsdale was standing next to his car. At the same time, a truck collided with the stopped car.

A man who was standing outside of his vehicle on Route 8 South in Ansonia on Friday night has serious injuries after being struck by a separate vehicle that was driving on the highway. State police said a 20-year-old man from Stratford had stopped his vehicle in the left lane of the highway shortly before 9 p.

Life-threatening injuries were reported after a pedestrian was struck on Route 8 south in Ansonia Friday evening, police said.  Connecticut State Police say they responded to the area of Exit 15 around 8:53 p.

The crash occurred on Route 8 southbound near Exit 15 around 8:53 p.m. Friday. Route 8 southbound is currently closed for investigation.
