Belfast City Airport re-opens after Sunday's closure due to an emergency
Belfast City Airport has re-opened on Monday morning after an incident involving an Aer Lingus plane landing on Sunday closed the runway. Hundreds of passengers were affected with flights cancelled or diverted. The Aer Lingus regional carrier had no passengers onboard and four crew members when the flight landed heavily due to the bad weather.

'Nightmare' as plane wheel collapse drama wreaks disruption to flights at Belfast City Airport
On the Facebook group Airside NI, Mr Savekin had posted up that the plane’s front landing gear “collapsed after it suffered a terribly hard landing”. It “hit the nose gear the first time and bounced real high, and then the gear hit the ground again”. Conditions at the time were understood to be windy.

Belfast City Airport shut after emergency during landing
Belfast City Airport's runway remains closed to all flights after an Aer Lingus plane suffered an emergency incident while landing during strong winds. It appears its nose wheel collapsed when it landed at about 16:00 GMT, with pictures showing its nose resting on the runway tarmac.
